Citizenship by Investment · CBI
A legal route in which a qualifying investment or contribution forms part of an application for citizenship. Payment is only one element: the governing law, due diligence, nationality restrictions and the competent authority’s decision remain central.
Residence by Investment · RBI
A route to a residence status linked to qualifying investment. The permit’s duration, renewal conditions and rights depend on the jurisdiction. A later nationality application is a separate process with its own legal requirements.
Read beyond the headline amount.
A contribution, refundable investment, property purchase and fund subscription create different economic exposures. Compare the full cost, holding period, liquidity, renewal obligations and family charges. Assess the asset independently from the immigration benefit.
Keep tax residence separate.
Citizenship, immigration residence and tax residence answer different questions. Review the domestic rules and relevant treaties in every connected jurisdiction. A second passport is not a tax analysis.
EDITORIAL METHODOLOGY
Primary sources. Explicit limits.
Each program profile links to an official government or program source. We distinguish published legal frameworks from unconfirmed implementation and avoid presenting an estimated threshold as law. This directory initially covers 11 selected pathways in 10 countries; it does not claim exhaustive worldwide coverage.
The research snapshot is 25 September 2026. Source pages may have different publication dates. The portal does not provide automatic monitoring or live regulatory updates. Current availability, amendments and judicial effects must be confirmed for each engagement.
Base amounts are stated in the original currency, without currency conversion or an implied total-cost comparison. Processing times are not guaranteed. No passport strength rankings or visa-free counts are used as a substitute for immigration rights.
About the platform
CBI.Lawyer is an independent legal platform associated with Falivene & Asociados in Buenos Aires. Its focus is legal analysis, investor eligibility and cross-border compliance, with particular attention to Argentina.
It is not a government website and does not claim to be a licensed program agent in every jurisdiction. Foreign-law advice and representation require appropriate local professionals.
